For Mother’s Day this year, my hubby surprised me with the gift of an overnight stay and spa treatment at the very picturesque Castlemartyr Resort. I have attended Spa Days here in the past but never thought about an overnight stay as we live so nearby I always felt there was no point, but boy was I wrong! It might only be 15 minutes up the road but it honestly felt like we were staying a million miles away from home.
On Thursday 30th March we made our way up to the Hotel with our two toddlers in tow. Upon check-in we were warmly greeted by Ciara at Reception who informed us we were being upgraded to a Grand Suite and we could not believe our luck! Jason brought us up the stairs of the Manor House and led us to a smaller staircase which I initially thought was the entrance to another corridor when in fact it was the entrance to our own Suite!
I think our jaws actually dropped to the floor when we realised the sheer size of the 900 sq.ft Suite. Walking through the door we entered a beautifully decorated hallway with separate guest toilet.
The Hallway leads into a very generous bedroom and huge black marble bathroom with double vanity sinks, toilet, bath and separate rain forest shower.
The adjacent sitting room with it’s silk walls (yes really!) and very comfortable seating also had a writing desk, Expresso machine and a beautifully hand written card welcoming the Power Party to the Castlemartyr Resort!
The breakaway was just for myself and Eoghan but because the Hotel is so close to home, we decided that afternoon to bring the kids up with us to spend some time together in the Swimming Pool. The very generous sized Pool is surrounded by relaxing day beds and stunning views of Castlemartyr’s grounds. The kids absolutely loved the pool so we will definitely be bringing them back up more often.
So my fantastic Hubby packed the kids up into the car and brought them home while I headed to the Spa for my Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage. Amy was my therapist on the day and gave me a really deep pressure massage using ESPA products. Amy was so amazing and found knots I didn’t even know were there myself! I had a lot of tension built up in my shoulders so this treatment was badly needed. Afterwards I was treated to some refreshments and advised I had a 20% discount if I wanted to buy any products on the day!! I was brought to the Relaxation Room where I sat down, gazed out at the stunning gardens and thought Wow I am really loving all this VIP treatment from the Castlemartyr Resort!!
I then retired back to my Grand Suite (how will I ever go back to a normal hotel room again?!!) and got myself ready for our dinner date at the Hotel’s Italian Restaurant Franchini’s.
The food was so good I cleared my plate before even thinking about taking pictures!! We each had the Tomato and Roasted Pepper Soup for starters which was served with some Bruschetta on the side. I had the Goats Cheese pizza and Eoghan had the Pasta Special of the day which was also delicious as I tried that too! The Wine was equally delicious!!
After our very tasty meal, we headed back to the Knight’s Bar for a few night caps!! The Bar was originally a Chapel I believe and is so ornately decorated, with its warm and cosy atmosphere you really feel like you a stepping back in time.
We honestly felt like Lord and Lady of the Manor from the second we arrived to the moment we left the Castlemartyr Resort. Each and every staff member we encountered were just so accommodating I kept thinking that maybe they had mistaken us for some famous couple!?!
If you want a slice of Heaven then really look no further that the 5 Star Castlemartyr Resort and if it’s good enough for Beyonce and Angelina Jolie then it is certainly good enough for me and I already cannot wait to go back!!
Thanks for stopping by x
