Friday Favourites – Sew Happy

My new favourite hobby at the moment is Sewing!  Myself and my friend Pearl started lessons with the insanely talented Amanda Hogan of Sew Happy back in October.  We signed up for the 6 week Seams Easy Level 1 Course at Amanda’s Hawthorn Stitch Studio in Boola, Glendine and I have serious Craft Room envy!!

The first week we got straight to business learning how to set up and thread the machine (that foot pedal brought me right back to learning how to drive – terrified of it I was!!) We also learned how to draw and map out letters for embroidery.

At our second class we made a tote bag with pocket front and this pattern can also be used to make an apron!  All the fabric is supplied by Amanda, the choosing of which is nearly the most difficult part of the Class – for me anyway with my fussy OCD ways!!!  At our third class third we made a gorgeous cushion cover learning how to use the button feature on the sewing machine.  Amanda teaches you a lot in each class and you always come away feeling like you’ve just learned another great new skill!

During our fourth class we made a note book cover and caddy, with me yet again choosing my fabric very wisely but I’m so glad I did as they match my bedroom decor perfectly!  Great storage for my remote controls too so it’s both gorgeous and functional!!   At our fifth class we made a beautiful heart wreath using three different fabrics.  This is personally my favourite piece from the whole term, I just love anything that has a vintage/shabby chic look to it and I really do think it’s stunning – if I do say so myself!!!

At our final class (Boooo!) we made this lovely fleecy Christmas Stocking and it was actually so easy to make – or is it that we are just getting better?!! Hmmmm

Myself and Pearl are already very excited to come back after Christmas and begin the Sew Far Sew Good Level 2 Course.   We really do enjoy our classes with Amanda, not only are we learning a new skill but we also have a lovely cuppa and even nicer chats – I could talk to Amanda all day as there is just no end to her creativity!

SEW three reasons why you need to sign up for Classes today:

  1. The 2.5 hour break away from your Hectic Life and Mama-hood each week!! SOLD!
  2. Amanda sets you to work on the sewing machine immediately so you are getting hands on experience right from the beginning!
  3. Each week you get a fun new project to complete which you can then bring home to show Anyone and Everyone just how amazingly skilled you are becoming! 🙂

Amanda has these stunning gift vouchers (which she makes herself!) and if you’re looking for a nice Christmas Gift idea these are something I would highly recommend.

You can contact Amanda through her Facebook page above or by telephone at her new number below!

With Amanda’s help and continued guidance (me pestering her forever more!) I am hoping to launch a new fabric range to my jesterdesign Gift Shop in 2017 so keep your eyes peeled throughout the year for updates!

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Thank you for the feature. Such a pleasure to teach such talented students. My favourite mantra ‘Do what you love and you will love what you do’ sits so well in my mind every Wednesday.
    Love the photos too.
Have a good break and I look forward to seeing you both in the New Year.
