Reloved – Kids Bench

Reloved – Kids Bench
BENCH – BEFORE

Supplies Used for this Project:

Sugar Soap, Sand Block

Paint Brushes, Napkins

Sample Pot of Frenchic Al Fresco Wise Old Sage

Frenchic Finishing Coat

FIRST STEP, AS ALWAYS, IS TO WASH DOWN WITH SUGAR SOAP, ALLOW TO DRY AND THEN LIGHTLY SAND & DUST OFF.

MY LITTLE HELPER ON THIS PROJECT WAS MY, ALMOST 5 YEAR OLD, DAUGHTER EVA!

WE STARTED BY PAINTING THE BENCH UPSIDE DOWN FIRST

THIS IS THE BENCH AFTER ONE COAT OF WISE OLD SAGE.  ONCE DRY, WE GAVE THE BENCH A SECOND COAT EXCEPT FOR THE TABLE TOP AS WE WANTED TO DECOUPAGE THIS WITH OUR FLORAL BIRD NAPKINS.
AFTER SEPARATING THE NAPKINS DOWN TO 1 PLY, I BEGAN TO TEAR OUT ALL THE BIRD IMAGES PLACING THEM DOWN FIRST IN MY CHOSEN PATTERN.
I USED FRENCHIC FINISHING COAT TO SECURE THE NAPKIN PIECES IN PLACE, FILLING IN THE GAPS WITH THE FLORAL DESIGN.  ONCE DRY, I GAVE THE NAPKINS ANOTHER COAT OF FINISHING COAT JUST TO KEEP IT PROTECTED FROM THE ELEMENTS OUTSIDE.
BENCH – AFTER!
PHEW THAT WAS THIRSTY WORK!
EVA ENJOYING A WELL DESERVED DRINK AFTER ALL HER HARD WORK! 🙂

This is the Reso Kids Bench from Ikea, if you are feeling inspired to give it a go yourself!
