Supplies Used for this Project:
Frenchic Al Fresco Greyhound
Frenchic Finishing Coat
Sugar Soap – Frenchic have since brought out their own one!
Frenchic Paint Brush
I BEGAN BY WASHING DOWN MY UNITS WITH SUGAR SOAP TO REMOVE ANY GREASE OR GRIME. I ALWAYS SAND MY PIECE/PROJECT BEFORE PAINTING BUT THIS TIME, OUT OF PURE LAZINESS, I USED THE FINISHING COAT AS A PRIMER INSTEAD OF SPENDING PAINSTAKING TIME SANDING BACK THE ALREADY PAINTED SURFACE! I APPLIED THE FINISHING COAT WITH A SPONGE AND LEFT IT TO DRY FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE APPLYING MY FIRST COAT OF GREYHOUND.
I ALWAYS START WITH A THIN LAYER OF PAINT AS THE SECOND COAT IS WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENS!
PLEASE IGNORE THE CHILD SAFETY CLIPS!!
USING THE SAME TIN OF PAINT (YES IT REALLY DOES GOES FAR!!) I BEGAN PAINTING OUR KITCHEN BENCH. I PREPPED IT BEFOREHAND IN THE SAME WAY AS I DID WITH THE UNITS ABOVE – SUGAR SOAP TO CLEAN AND FINISHING COAT APPLIED WITH A SPONGE TO PRIME!
A NICE THIN LAYER AGAIN, THERE IS NO NEED TO BE HEAVY HANDED WITH THIS PAINT.
AND IT DIDN’T STOP THERE FOLKS – I ALSO MANAGED TO PAINT THE KIDS LITTLE TABLE AND CHAIRS SET WITH THE SAME TIN OF PAINT! BECAUSE I USED THE AL FRESCO OUTDOOR RANGE OF PAINT ON ALL OF THIS FURNITURE, THERE WAS NO NEED TO SEAL AND PROTECT THEM ANY FURTHER. IT STARTS TO HARDEN OVER THE FIRST 24-48 HOURS AND FULLY CURES IN AROUND 2 WEEKS, AT WHICH STAGE IT BECOMES WEATHERPROOF. SO AL FRESCO IS PERFECT TO USE IN KITCHENS OR BATHROOMS WHERE IT WILL SURELY COME IN CONTACT WITH WATER!
So there you have it, absolutely no need to spend hundreds of Euro having your Kitchen painted (like we did originally!) just pick your colour and do it yourself! I didn’t remove my cupboards doors, I just removed all the handles, painted and left the doors open overnight to dry. Two evenings and you’re done and because Frenchic Paint has no odour and is certified child friendly, you don’t have to evacuate the whole family when you want to get stuck in!
I know I rant and rave about the Finishing Coat in almost all of my ReLoved Posts, but it is such a fantastic multi-purpose product to have in your Kit. Use it as a Primer like I did in this Project, as the Finishing Coat to protect your Original or Lazy Range Paint (if desired), use it to mix with the gorgeous Fresheen powders and you can also use it for Decoupage! The Finishing Coat is also available to purchase in our store at Jessica Loves Gift Shop & Studio in Youghal!
